Getting Started
PRIME‚Ñ¢ is divided into two sections, "Personal
Numbers" and "Applications", each with its own window.
To get started with any of the functions under the
"Personal Numbers" menu or with "Mates & Partners" the
Subject's name and birth data must be entered first by
selecting "New..." under the "File" menu. After the
information has been entered a window will appear
showing the Subject's "Personal Numbers", that is, the
Birth, Destiny, Internal, Appearance, and Survival #'s
followed by a section called "Alpha-Numerics". The text
in the window may be examined in the usual way by means
of the vertical scroll bar. The beginnings of the
"Personal Numbers" and "Alpha-Numeric" data sections
may also be reached by selecting them under the
"Personal Numbers" menu. The remaining "Personal
Numbers" sections -- "Personal Year", "Personal Month",
Personal Day", and "Predictions" -- will also become
available for entering dates to analyze. "Choosing
Names" and "Addresses" are always available.
In both windows the text for each section consulted
will be placed immediately after any preceding text. In
this way a series of screens may be arranged in order.
For example, predictions for several consecutive years
might be placed in ascending order to see if there is a
descernible thread running through them. However, to
conserve memory, data for only one Subject at a time
may be assembled in the "Personal Numbers" Window.
Introduction
Like most computer programs PRIME‚Ñ¢ crunches numbers.
But it does so in accordance with ideas rooted in a
method, or system of methods, that originated in the
earliest days of Western Culture. Pythagoras, one of
the earliest practitioners of this method, which
eventually came to be called Numerology, was as
interested in what a number meant as in what it
measured. To him numbers were more than things to count
with. He found in them keys to deeper secrets. He
approached mathematics from more than one angle, with
both lobes of his brain, so to speak; with his
intuitive as well as his intellectual faculties. As did
Plato. In his book, "Timaeus", Plato took numbers
apart, analyzed them, "played" with them, and put them
back together into elaborate relationships/ratios
involving symbolism and metaphor on a scale far beyond
anything we, with our technological and utilitarian
attitudes, might consider sensible or level-headed
today. The alphabet was viewed in a similar way since
each letter could be reduced to a single digit
according to its position in the alphabet. It too could
provide a clue to greater things. The attitude was that
the greatest mysteries are revealed in the smallest
things. If something cannot be reduced then it is pure
and true. If it is pure and true then it shares in the
purity and truth governing the rest of the universe and
may be studied like an element or building block and
pieced together with other elements to provide a
glimpse into the grand design.
PRIME‚Ñ¢ makes all of these numerological calculations
for you. It reduces the digits in your birth-date to
the one "PRIME‚Ñ¢" digit signifying the gifts and
attributes you were born with. It finds the number that
represents your destiny, the number that represents
your inner drive or desire, the number that tells how
you are viewed by others, the number that signifies how
you will be able to balance sometimes opposing
influences. PRIME‚Ñ¢ will tell you when these numbers
will be at their greatest influence and will suggest
times when you might best act in accordance with their
cycles. It will provide a charting of the cycles or
"Eras" each person lives through, the ages when things
will change, the "Challenges" that are likely to
present themselves. Weak links will be pointed out and
suggestions made on what to guard against.
PRIME‚Ñ¢ can be anything from a curiosity to a party
game to a catalyst for useful contemplation and
insight. All that is needed to interpret its
information is an open mind and the ability to relate
and balance a wide range of human qualities and
feelings. Some skills are necessary but they are
largely skills similar to those used in making it
through most days.
PRIME‚Ñ¢ may be interpreted most fruitfully when the
information is read metaphorically or intuitively. It
most likely won't be of much use advising what to
invest in or wager on and the authors do not intend it
to be a crutch or substitute for mature and responsible
decision-making.
What it may do best is suggest what may be the
underlying "Prime" in any person's "PRIME‚Ñ¢" of life.
Entering Dates
When entering years enter all four digits, such as
"1998". Months should be entered with digits, "1"
representing "January" and "12" representing
"December". The hours should be entered as anything
from "1" to "12" and the minute of birth is anything
from "0" (zero) to "59".
As far as PRIME‚Ñ¢ is concerned years and months begin
and end on the Subject's Birthday. If you are
interested in examining the current "Personal Year"
then enter the calendar year in which the Birthday last
occurred. If the Subject was born on April 12, for
example, and the date today is August 4, 1999 then
entering "1999" would establish the current "Personal
Year" as running from April 12, 1999 to April 12, 2000.
If the Subject was born on November 4 and the date
today was February 17, 2001 then entering "2000" would
establish the year as running from November 4, 2000 to
November 4, 2001.
If the current "Personal Month" is to be examined
then enter the calendar month in which the Birth Date
last appeared. For example, if the Subject was born on
July 4 (or the 4th of any month) and the date today is
January 17 then entering "1" for January would set the
current "Personal Month" as running from January 4 to
February 4. If the Subject's Birthday was March 19 (or
the 19th of any month) and the date today is June 3
then entering "5" for May would set the "Personal
Month" as running from May 19 to June 19.
The same principle holds for the "Personal Day" which
begins on the calendar day in which the hour of birth
last appeared.
Under "Personal Year", "Personal Month", and
"Personal Day" PRIME‚Ñ¢ will accept the entry of dates
that are in the past. This is intended as a way for the
user to learn PRIME‚Ñ¢'s point of view. By comparing
PRIME‚Ñ¢'s assessment of those periods of time with what
is known or felt to have actually happened the user
will be in a good position to judge PRIME‚Ñ¢'s accuracy
and pertinence.
Entering Names
If a name is too long to fit in any of PRIME‚Ñ¢'s
windows or Alert Boxes it will be truncated and a "+"
will be added to the end to indicate its abbreviation.
The Subject's full name, which is limited to 200
characters, will still be used in all calculations. The
Last Name, First Names, and Middle Names in the
"Choosing Names" section are limited to 80 characters
each.
Modern numerologists differ on how to analyze a
person's name. Some stick hard and fast to the rule
that a person's name is that which appears on the birth
certificate (or the closest English equivalent). Others
(PRIME‚Ñ¢ among them) believe a person's name is more
variable and should always be considered in context.
Sometimes a person is best represented by the name
others use for them, or the name that is signed on
documents, or even a nickname. Some consider nicknames
or informal names when analyzing the Appearance # or
Survival # and the formal name when analyzing the
Destiny #. This will vary considerably from individual
to individual -- PRIME‚Ñ¢ users and PRIME‚Ñ¢ Subjects
alike. Some people are informal and others formal. Some
are now one and now another. Some a mixture. Friends
and relatives may use a nickname all by itself. The
government might identify a person by the complete name
that was given at birth. Childhood friends may continue
to think of one another in terms of the names and
nicknames that were current in their early years no matter how the names may change later through marriage,
etc. A first name might be dropped in favour of a more
fashionable or better sounding middle name. An actor
might adopt a stage name and then go on to become
famous and thought of forever after by the name of a
character portrayed. Initials might be substituted and
spoken as if they were actual names -- "MM", "JFK",
"BB"...
Professional titles might become an integral part of
a name, i.e. "Doctor Johnson", "President Roosevelt",
"Captain Kirk". A person may sign one name on a check,
another variation on a letter to a stranger, another on
a deed of land, yet another in a friend's yearbook --
indicating how different roles and circumstances demand
names of specific "tone" or formality.
When choosing a name to submit to PRIME‚Ñ¢ a rule of
thumb might be to try to use the name the Subject is
known by generally or the name they prefer to use day
to day. It might be instructive to consider the name
the Subject was given at birth and compare the PRIME‚Ñ¢
#'s that were in effect then to those at work later in
life as the name is altered or "customized". What
happens when a maiden name is dropped and a new married
name adopted? Is the change drastic? Do old weaknesses
disappear and new ones take their place? Does one name
clash more than the other with the Birth number's? In
most cases one name and its PRIME‚Ñ¢ #'s will ring true.
But some personalities are complex to the point of
confusion and may vary from period to period, age to
age, and mood to mood. Some are more malleable than
others, more reactive than active, moved and changed by
external circumstance and the force of those close by.
Can there be such a person who exists without there
being more than one frame of reference from which to
view them or so separated from others that they are not
influence at all? Experience, intuition, and
experimentation are the best guides here.
Hour of Birth
If the hour and minute of birth is unknown then enter
12:00 (P)m or make an educated guess. The "Personal
Day" section maps out a 24 hour period starting and
ending at the Birth Hour. The Peak Hour approximates
the time when the Personal Day # forces are especially
active but is meant as a guideline only. Narrowing it
down to either morning or evening should suffice in
most cases. (The exact time of birth is recorded on the
Subject's Birth Certificate.)
Leap Year
If a Birthday was February 29 during a Leap Year that
date will occur only once every four years. During
non-Leap Years it will become March 1.
"File" MENU
"New..."
"New...", under the "File" menu, brings up a window
for entering a new Subject's name and birth data. After
the "OK" button is clicked a scrolling window will
appear containing all the Subject's Personal #'s;
Alpha-Numeric strengths and weaknesses; Eras and
Challenges. The Subject's name and data are
automatically stored and may be called up again by
selecting the name from the "Names" menu.
"Open..."
"Open..." allows you to retrieve a previously saved
session. This will completely replace everything
currently active in the "Personal Numbers" window so
save what you have first if it's important. The
contents of the "Applications" window will be replaced
also, but only if the saved file contains data from
one of the Applications.
"Save..."
"Save...", under the "File" menu, will write
everything currently active in the "Personal Numbers"
and "Applications" windows to a disk file that can be
retrieved later. The file is saved as a text file which
can be opened and edited in a word processor.
"Delete..."
This menu choice allows you to eliminate a disk
file. Use carefully! Once a file is deleted it's gone
forever (unless you have a good, low-level, file
recovery utility.)
"Print..."
Choosing "Print...", under the "File" menu, will send
everything in the active "Personal Numbers" or
"Applications" windows to a printer. If the window is
closed when "Print..." is selected its contents will
not be printed.
"Edit" MENU
"Preferences"
"Preferences" (under "Edit") brings up a dialog box
where you can select another NAMES resource file as the
default. You can also activate or deactivate the
scrolling of names across the tops of the "Personal
Numbers" and "Applications" windows.
"Numbers" MENU
"Personal Numbers"
There are five "Personal Numbers" determined by the
Subject's date of birth and the spelling of their name.
The "Birth #" is derived from the date of birth. This #
indicates what the Subject was born possessing --
gifts, knacks, instincts, nature, etc. as well as their
purpose in life or what it is that must be learned in
life. The "Destiny #" is arrived at by reducing the
numbers associated with all the letters in the name --
the "Internal #" being arrived at by reducing the
vowels and the "Appearance #" the consonants. The
"Destiny #" denotes the path their life will take, the
road they will or should or could follow in order to
fulfill what has been laid out for them)√útheir "Birth
#". The iInternal #", sometimes referred to as the
number of the Soul, indicates what the Subject is
actually like deep inside -- despite appearances -- and
what they will desire to do or be. The "Appearance #"
represents what others see in the Subject, who and what
they seem to be on the surface as well as what they
appear to want and what they appear capable of doing.
The "Survival #" is determined by reducing both the
"Birth" and "Destiny" #'s down to one single-digit
number. This number may indicate how a Subject might
overcome built-in conflicts caused by numbers and
traits that are not harmonious. The "Survival #" might
also show a person blessed with largely harmonious and
favorable #'s how it is that trouble could find its way
into their life nonetheless.
"Alpha-Numerics"
Be wary of this reading if the name is relatively
short. The interpretation is based on the frequency of
letter values in the name. The longer the name the more
likely it is that letters of all nine values will
appear (although PRIME‚Ñ¢ tries to compensate with a
formula which ties the frequency to a percentage of the
name's total number of letters). The relative
significance of the # is indicated by the number of
occurrences--the more times it appears the more
powerful it is.
"Personal Eras"
PRIME‚Ñ¢ will calculate the ages at which the Subject's
"Personal Eras" will begin and end and will display
them along with the #'s that will influence each. There
will be four screens of explanatory text, one for each
Era.
It may be helpful to think of each Era as a field of
action and of each corresponding Challenge (below) as
the mission to be accomplished within that field.
Personal Challenges"
PRIME‚Ñ¢ will calculate the Personal Challenge #'s
which are particular challenges or problems needing
resolution within each of the "Personal Eras" above.
"Personal Year"
The "Personal Year" runs from the Birthday in one
year to the Birthday in the next. The "Personal Year" #
indicates the general temper of that period of time.
PRIME‚Ñ¢ will try to advise ways to take advantage of
favorable times and other ways to persevere through
difficulty. A "Peak Month" will be shown in which the
influence will be at its strongest. "Action Months"
will show the most opportune times for dealing with the
situation. However, these months are meant as rough
guides only, as are the "Peak" and "Action" Days and
Hours below.
"Personal Month"
The "Personal Month" begins and ends on the Subject's
date of birth. If the date does not appear, as would
occur if the Subject was born on say, January 31, and
the month to be examined does not have 31 days
(February, September, etc.) the Birth D§is bumped
ahead to the first of the following month. The
"Personal Month #" will indicate a temporary condition
that will prevail for the Subject. PRIME‚Ñ¢ will
indicate, roughly, which day the #'s influence will be
strongest. PRIME‚Ñ¢ will also show the days when actions
could be taken in anticipation of or in reaction to the
#. The first Action Day might be a good time to prepare
for what is building and the second Action Day might be
a good time for taking stock of the situation and for
mopping up.
"Personal Day"
Much as in the "Personal Year" and "Personal Month"
sections, PRIME‚Ñ¢ will describe the "Personal Day #"
that will influence a temporary 24 hour period
beginning and ending at the Subject's hour and minute
of birth. The "Peak" and "Action Hours" will indicate
key hours during the day's cycle.
"Predictions"
The "Predictions" section operates similarly to the
"Personal Year" but in a more specific way. While the
"Personal Year" will indicate the general feeling and
tone of a given year "Predictions" tries to isolate and
identify unusual forces, circumstances, and events that
may enter the scene. The "Predictions" section should
be consulted along with the "Personal Year" and
"Months" for a better sense of what might come to pass.
The "Predictions" year also differs in that it is
divided into three 4-month trimesters. A Prediction is
made for the Year as a whole (beginning and ending on
the Subject's Birthday) and three sub-predictions are
made for each trimester. The trimester predictions
should be read in light of the general overtone at work
in the Year's overall Prediction #.
"Applications" MENU
"Mates & Partners"
The "Mates & Partners" section uses the names and
birth data of Subjects whose files have been previously
entered and saved to the "Names" menu. The files of two
Subjects may be opened and compared by selecting them
from two pop-up menus in the "Mates & Partners" window.
The interpretation files are sometimes phrased in
terms of Subject #1 and should be read from that point
of view. Re-select the names in reverse order to see if
there is any significant change brought about by the
shift in perspective.
"Choosing Names"
This section tests names entered along with the date
of birth (The date a baby or pet was born or -- equally
valid -- the date a boat was launched, logo created,
etc.); with the theory that a name is more desirable if
its associated Destiny and Birth #'s match or if its
Birth, Destiny, and Internal #'s belong to harmonious #
"families".
"Addresses"
PRIME‚Ñ¢ will analyze the numeric part of an address
(up to 100 characters in length) and interpret the
resulting "Address #" in order to show what that place
may be like for its inhabitants and visitors. As with
"Choosing Names" considerable liberty may be taken when
deciding just what constitutes an address. A car's
license #, a hotel room #, a prisoner's jail cell #,
the # on a sports uniform, etc. might all possess some
significant influence upon those associated with or
labeled by the #.
"Review"
"Review" (under the "Applications" menu) will re-open
the "Applications" Window. Selecting any of the second
through fourth items under the "Personal Numbers" menu
will do the same for that Window.
"Purge"
"Purge" (under the "Applications" menu) will
permanently erase everything in the "Applications"
Window and free up that memory. An alert will pop up to
ask if this is really desired.
"Names" MENU
The "Names" menu contains a list of names of
Subjects whose birth dates, times, etc. have been
entered previously (see "New..." under the "File"
menu.) Choosing a name from the list brings up the
Personal Numbers window with all the Subject's Personal
#'s in place.
The first three items in the "Names" menu are
separated from the main list.
The first item is the default Subject whose #'s
will appear when PRIME‚Ñ¢ is first opened. Choosing this
item when another Subject is active will bring the
default Subject's data back again.
If another Subject is active the second menu item
may be choosen to make the active Subject the default.
Selecting the third menu item will delete the active
Subject's name and data from the list. The Subject and
data can be reinstated if "New..." under the "File"
menu is selected before any other names become active.
If this option is forgone the Subject and birth data
must be re-entered if it is needed again.
Suggestions
• Interpreting "Personal Numbers"
It is not uncommon to find an individual's Personal
#'s out of harmony with one another. Some people appear
one way (Appearance #) on the outside but think of
themselves (Internal #) in quite another way. What they
want or seek (Internal #) may or may not coincide with
the direction they're heading (Destiny #) or with what
they, perhaps, should want (Birth #). Their innate
skills and talents (Birth #) may or may not support
their ambitions (Internal #) or path (Destiny #). Often
their methods of getting through life (Survival #) are
methods learned through experience and the pressures of
a world not always sympathetic to them. If a person
possesses extraordinary conflicts among their #'s the
key to understanding these complexities may reside in
the Survival # -- a compromise or averaging attribute.
If, for example, PRIME‚Ñ¢ reports that a Subject's
Internal # indicates extraordinary political ambition
but their Appearance # indicates someone ill at ease
with others and careless in their dress you might put
the bits of information together and come away with a
natural suspicion that that person might have trouble
getting elected to office. But if their Survival #
suggests they should trust in the professional advice
of others they might hit on the idea of seeking out an
image consultant in order to project a more accurate
picture.
• Influence of the #'s of those close by.
The first place to look for clues that might explain
how to deal with personal conflicts is in the #'s of
those close by. A Subject cursed with indecision might
do well when allied with someone else whose
decision-making skills are well developed. But if that
second party should run into foul weather the Subject
may also be affected and would be well advised to
exercise caution and perhaps delay any serious decision
until the person relied upon is in better shape.
• "Mates & Partners"
The combinations and considerations of all the PRIME‚Ñ¢
#'s may seem endless at times and never moreso than in
the "Mates & Partners" section where weak links in one
person may find corresponding strong links in the other
person and vice versa. One personality may bring out
the best or worst in another — like complex chemicals
in reaction.
To fully investigate what the "Mates & Partners"
section brings to light try opening each of the
Subjects' files in the "Personal Numbers" window in
turn and referring to the specifics there while
examining what "Mates & Partners" has to say. For
example, it might be useful to look at the Destiny #'s
of each Subject if PRIME‚Ñ¢ suggests the two are in
significant conflict or harmony.
• Periods of Time
Any period of time being examined should always be
considered in relation to the larger period of time
encompassing it. That is, the "Personal Day" should be
read with the overriding # of the "Personal Month" in
mind. Likewise, the "Personal Month" must be read with
the "Personal Year" in mind, the "Personal Year" in
terms of the "Personal Era", and the "Personal Era" in
terms of the overriding "Personal Numbers" which are in
effect throughout the Subject's life.*
